Let’s just face it, reality TV is all of our secret addictions. We couldn’t wait to see the drama unfold on Laguna Beach when Stephan and Kristen were “Dunzo," and we can’t get enough of the crazy situations that Snookie and Deena end up in. Reality TV is such a huge part of our generation’s culture in today’s day and age. It has such a big impact in the way that we carry on throughout our days even. The amount of chaos involved in these shows raises questions such as, who are these people, where do they come from, and is this for real? In my opinion not all of the content on these shows is “reality."

Drama, drama, and more drama. This word seems to be what reality television is focused on these days.  Recently on the Jersey Shore Sammy and Ronny got into another one of their infamous fights, but this one took a nasty turn for the worse. Things started to get violent and messy when the couples trust issues began to flare up. Ronny went from normal Guido juicehead to the hulk in a matter of seconds; he was flipping beds and throwing possessions out the door. Behavior this intense isn’t something that you would normally see, which raises the question, was it for the ratings?  Think about it, would you ever chuck something out the window because your significant other cheated on you over a year ago, but the issue has already been dealt with? A little extreme if you ask me. Also, we can never forget the one and only Pumpkin from VH1’s Flavor of Love. Her love was so “passionate” for a man well over twice her age that she felt a lougie to another contestant’s, New York, face was necessary. Any person wishing to perceive themselves as classy would obviously support her in this action, right? My question is what would possess a person to want to be portrayed in such a negative light? Did New York really deserve a wad of spit to the dome?

What are your opinions on the topic of reality television? Is it all real or fake? Maybe a little mix of both?

Reality TV is all about what drama would get the people interested. I am not a fan of those shows because i believe that they are stupid. I got to say though its 50-50, half real and half fake. There is no way the things that happen on those shows could happen everyday for them without  a little help. All of my friends love the show Jersey Shore and to me it looks fake and its completely for the ratings. I got to say though hearing about that lougie to the face made me laugh.

I think it depends on the show to tell whether it is manily real, or mainly scripted. For certain shows it might be more entertaining for the audience if it just shows what is happening. For some shows they might need to make it more interesting by having writers.

I've said this on a couple other blogs, but I personally choose not to watch television because I really don't have a need for it. Reality TV shows are partially a factor for this decision. I always thought they were probably the most pointless thing on. But they seem to keep popping up all over the place, so I'm assuming people have to like them for them to keep making more. One great quote I've heard referring to reality TV is, "If that's reality, then where the hell do I live?"

I don't watch reality shows because they are fake and stupid. I can't stand them. I do not believe for one second that it is all real. I do believe that the people on Jersey Shore are naturally stupid and imbeciles; but some of the fights are most likely staged. I don't think these people should get payed for acting like idiots. When we act likes idiots we get in trouble.

I see these reality shows as comedies. This stuff is either really fake or really dumb. The drama is just entertaining and laughable. Great example being jersey shore, a bunch of juice head italians and a bunch of skanky girls. Thats just the making for one funny show.

I think most of what goes on tv really happened, but i think the networks put extra effort in to make what actions seen on tv fit what they want the character to look like. They pick and chose certain scenes to make some people look crazier than reality.

I think that most of the things that happen on reality television is fake.  Your right, the people in these shows are way too dramatic over little issues and I think they have to over react to get people to watch the show.  Even though all of these shows are fake and stupid, I'll admit I can't stop watching Jersey Shore.

I agree with Artov, many of the reality T.V. shows are not really reality. There staged and scripted. No one really in their right mind would do a lot of the things in Jersey Shore or any other reality T.V. show just because. The reason for it all is because they make so much money but nonetheless its all fake in my opinion

Personally i think those shows are completely faked and staged. EVEN if it was real, their acting is fake because they are just doing it for the money.  I dont know how people watch it and in general I think reality T.V. is BS -->Jersey Shore

I think it is all fake. hahaa. I honestly think everything is planned out by the producers. There may not be a black and white script, but I think all the major events that happen are all planned out. And I don't blame them! Got to keep things interesting! But really, think about it. Who's life is that entertaining and full of drama 95% of the time? Maybe it's just me, but mine isn't. All the producers have to do is find some fun, crazy, good looking people and waaabammm! you got yourself a number one tv show that everyone is gonna watch. It's all about making money, and i'm sure they are making tons of it. And that's the sad reality of reality tv. Gotta Love it! :)

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
