Parents+College Talk= Nothing but Stress

Have you ever felt like your parents put too much stress on you about college? I know mine do. All throughout high school they have been telling me I need to do well in order to get into a good college, but junior year is the year they have been putting the most stress on me about it. We all know that in order to get accepted into a college we want to go to we have to get good grades, so I don't understand why our parents have to put the reminder back into our heads everyday.

Lately at my house, everything I do relates back to how my school work will affect my college admissions. I already know what school I would like to go to and what needs to be done to get in, but no matter what I do my parents try to push me harder. Right when I get home from school, they want me to work, work, work. I can't skip out on any homework and I have to study for all tests. And with us just finding out our ACT scores, my parents keep pushing me because "I can do better if I practice".
Most students that want to go to college have enough self motivation to push themselves enough to do their work and get good scores, but it gets made so much more difficult when you have your parents breathing down your back adding more stress to our already stressful high school lives,

Do anyone else's parents feel the need to constantly nag them about the future?

My parents use far too much stress for everything. This household is pretty much built on stress. The worst thing is when parents say they've given up. I mean, if they've given up on me who's going to be there for me?

I would hate if my parents pushed me all the time, I think that if you push a kid over the edege there just going to want to rebel and not do it. Its their life and if they mess it up oh well its their fault. If you do the best you can I think that they shouldnt be nagging you since you are trying.

same. my dad is always saying where are you going to go to college? have you gotten a job yet? how are your grades? i hate it when he does this because it stresses me out so much. i don't even want to respond but if i don't he gets mad.

MY DAD IS REALLY BAD WITH THIS. ITS LIKE HE PLAYS WITH MY HEAD OR TRYS TO ACT LIKE A PARENT BY TELLING ME I HAVE TO DO BETTER AND SUCH. THEN WONT CALL ME FOR A MONTH. IDK

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
