No Technology!?...How Depressing...

So, the other night I was taking history notes on the Great Depression, and having a wonderful time, I might add. In the notes, I noted (pun intended) that historians and economists seem to agree that one of the common factors that led to the depression was the availability of easy credit. Seeing as easy credit seems to be a big factor in our own economic disaster with all the foreclosures and credit card problems, I began thinking…What would be the first things we would have to give up if our economy collapsed? How far away are we?

Obviously, things would change. For example, since shopping would be curtailed, stores in the mall would close. Those people would lose their jobs, some would lose their homes, like the people that are currently in foreclosure. We understand that from history. But I guess the bigger question is…what would happen to our generation, where cell phones and internet are a way of life? During the Great Depression, people were just being introduced to technology, so staying home and listening to the radio, or playing board games wasn’t that big of a deal. But we were born into a technological world. Most of us have access to a car, or if we don’t our parents drop us off. We were raised to be involved. We have cell phones, video games, internet, and cable.

If we had to give up these things in order to put food on the table…what would happen? What things would be the first to go in your household? Would we be able to just return to a time where families played Monopoly on the weekends?

Well my parents would probably give up my car first and then the tv or video games. Eventually maybe we'd have to play board games on the weekends or one could go outside and hang with friends but you'd have to make all the planes at school because of the lack of communications. I could not survive with only playing board games. I would probably just go long boarding everyday but when it is cold I guess I'd have to stay in and read or something.

Living in a world without technology would be awful! I think i'd miss being able to contact my friends easily, and electricity ofcorse! How the founding fathers did it, i don't know.

Technology is really becoming something that many americans can't live without and its a little sad. Granted i use technology like every american but if you can't got 24 hours without playing the xbox, checking facebook on your computer, or texting someone you've got a problem. Sometimes i think its better to relax, get away from technology, go camping or something and enjoy what nature has to offer that is not man made.

Technology is something I believe I could live without, I got my phone stolen a couple times.  At First I was freaking out and was scared, but I went an entire month without my Iphone and loved it.  I didn't have to worry about people texting me 24-7 and people trying to keep me updated with the latest drama.  It was amazing.  Now people lose things and freak out, but when you take a step back it's amazing.  It's like we are little kids again when we didn't worry about having the new it thing.

Technology... Technology is something that we cannot live without, and most of the societies are depended on the technology we have. Imagine living in this modern society without any technology that is supporting you. It is interesting how facebook itself is an social website that anyone can join and even a 60 yr old grandma joins facebook and chats with her grandchildren. And it would be very difficult to live in a society without technology today. letting go of ipod, facebook, phone, laptop, and tv is difficult to do, and everyone knows that this world would be chaotic without any technology.

Today I think modern society lives off of technology. And we use it everyday. Although it would be nice to say that we could live without technology, its just about impossible. Every minute someones either on their phone, laptop, or ipod. Technology has changed our society completely, in good and bad ways. But without it who knows what the world would be like.

Without technology, i think everyone would be different from today. In the 1800s technology was practically non-exsistant, and people talked to eachother through letters and daily interaction. Now with technology, we can call people across the world, text message them, or email them. Technology has changed how social people are and the connections between many different people. Without it today, the world would be in chaos

I know for a fact that if I didn't have access to technology, I could very well be a much different person. I am addicted to my computer, and while I think the world would be a more, how should I say this, social and accepting place without the technologies we use on a daily basis, I still think we need them because they do more good then bad.

i think our modern society revolves around technology and those "new-need-to-have" gadgets. Even in school, people need to look at facebook and their phones. I mean, what's soooooo urgent that you need to be talking to someone in school when your with them! Yes, all of these things have pluses to them, but all of this could turn into a sickness if we keep this up..

It bothers me that everyone needs technology to function, and most people would be so lost without Facebook or their phones these days. I think it's sad that everyone needs it to survive, it's very rare to see somebody without a phone in their hand.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
