Between finals, warm weather, prom, sports, clubs, and summer coming up everyone is antsy to get out of here! Its that time of year when the students start checking out early and the teachers have to lecture us day after day to stay on top of our school work. Although most of us think it's annoying, it's the truth. If you think about it, this semester is a very important one. It's the last set of grades that colleges see before applying. Talk about stress! Then with stressing about prom dates or finishing up a sport, it can be tough! The best thing to do is stay positive and do your best. The worst thing to do is slack off, because schools not quite over yet ! The weather plays a big role in the end of the year "slacking off". No one wants to sit in a classroom when its 80 degrees outside after a long cold winter!

I would say the best thing to do is make yourself focus and think about the future. There's only a few more weeks to battle through and then we are free for summer! This semester is vital for college applications, which are coming up before we know it! Time sure does fly by. Another thing to do is be sure to study for finals. Finals are a big portion of the semester grade and it wouldn't be good to waste all that hard work just because you didn't want to study for one test! My favorite way to study for finals is using notecards and using a white board. It helps to write things out again. For example, I use note cards for studying for American Studies for the greek roots and history facts. I also determine how much to study for one final by my first and second quarter grades in each class. If I have two a's in one class, and 2 b's in another, then I'll study longer for the one with two b's. One way to figure out what classes to study most for is by looking at the grade conversion chart. This chart allows you to look at your first and second quarter grades and see what you will get for the semester if you get an a, b, c, d, or f on your final. It's a very helpful tool! Summer will come soon enough everyone so make sure you don't check out too early! Please comment and tell me your opinion on all this craziness!

I also agree. Once the sun comes out and the weather gets nice, my brain turns off.

The weather gets nice and everyone goes nuts. There's only a couple of days left in school and people in particular are losing their minds!

There seems to be a lot of crunching going on when instead things should be winding down. The weather has been great, I go for long bike rides every night and put homework off to enjoy them. I am also starting a gardening/tree surveying job that requires me to be outside in the day light for long amounts of time. I do not have much time for school work right now and I'm putting it further back on the burner. It would be a lot nicer if instead of having more work we could get less.

i am deffinetly finding it hard to concentrate in class now that summer is just around the corner which sucks because all my classes seem to be getting that much harder.

I checked out of school at the beginning of the second semester i would have to say, and every day is a greater struggle to make it to the finish line. Staying focused this late in the school year is a terribly hard thing to do, both for students and for teachers.

I hate the last couple weeks of school! no one can pay attention and we're still learning and taking tests. It's not that we don't care anymore, we just all are ready for summer.

I really don't understand why all of hte teachers think that the last weeks of school is crunch-time and they need to cram a months worth of stuff into such short time. They need to step back and realize that half of us have senioritus and have just given up.

teachers are always craming in last minute assignments, and as students its harder for us to focus on it with finals and the end of the year. The last couple days of school should be relaxing and getting ready for finals.

As much as I would like to check out early, I know that I will regret it later. I just don't know why we are still learning new material with less than 5 whole days of school left. The weather doesn't agree with the "stay inside and study" time of year...

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
