Does our generation have too many distractions?

I don't know about you, but when it comes to doing homework I look for as many distractions as I can to procrastinate on my assignment (like this one :D). Then after I think about it, there are way too many things that a teenager like me has. I'm on my computer right now, that leaves me with the internet which can be very distraction. One of the many distractions a lot of us have is

I'm not saying everyone uses it 24/7, I don't, but it's a perfect example of things that can lead us off track on the internet. There are also websites like YouTube, which are full of videos that people can just watch for hours on end. I've done it before, I've gone on YouTube when I had homework and just waste time by watching funny videos. It doesn't have to be Facebook or YouTube, it can be any other site. I can safely say that about 95% of you while doing your blog you went on another webpage, even if it was for a second to check your Facebook or you just got bored.

Another thing that can lead to wasting time, are cellphones. Most of us have cellphones and texting, that can lead to us talking to our friends about random things, such as pointless gossip or classic "hey. hey." conversation. There are so many things that two teenagers can discuss, having a cellphone next to you while doing homework is basically begging for one of your friends to text you so you could not do your homework. Sad but true.

Have there even been times when you got so distracted you forgot to do your homework or a big project and afterwards you realize how much you didn't get done because you got distracted?

In this day and age, there are way too many distractions. WIth Facebook, phones, TV, and video games there are just too many easy ways to slack off Homework. Although i do manage my time wisely there are definite times where i find myself watching TV when i should be doing match homework.

There are so many distractions. As I am typing this I have my phone out, facebook up, and am watching the Bulls game. It does get out of hand at times, but if you get your priorities straight everything will be orderly and distractions will be at a minimum.

we do have too many distractions but itsnt that bound to happen with the new invetions that are happening?  with all of the new things in our world there are always going to be bad parts to them. theres good and bad to everything right?

I agree, this generation has way too many distractions. Im definitely guilty of using these distrations to procrastinate doing my homework. I would do this all the time and just end up feeling frustrated in the end. I've learned to do my homework first, without using any of those distractions, and completing it in half the time. Then, that leaves me with more time to spend on those disractions, when it's appropriate.

I think this generation has a lot of distractions, but our need f0r instant gratification doesn't help too much either. We need thigns right now, we need to be entertained right this second, and when we're doing homework, most of the time we're just thinking what else we could be doing besides homework (like facebook, twitter, youtube, tv, etc.)

I do this all the time. It's getting pretty ridiculous actually. I do a lot of my homework online now or go on to put on music. There are times I tell myself I'm just going to check my Facebook really quick then an hour later I'm still on the same math problem or still just have my name written on my 5 page paper due the next day. It's getting to the point where I have to give my phone to my mom or turn it on silent & put in under my pillow so I can't see the light go off when I get a text. There is definitely WAY too much for kinds to get distracted with nowadays.

I procrastinate in everything we do, I mean think about it. Like Davy said, everything we do is controlled by the social media, they add colors here and there and you get distracted.

Not going to lie, I have my facebook open and I'm texting right now. As much as I hate to admit it, both of these things are so distracting! All my homework would be done so much faster if I didn't have them. Unfortunately, I always have something to tell someone or the other way around. It seems like we can never truly take a break.

Well im procrastinating right now... my phone has internet, as does my ipod, so twitter and facebook ar always right next to me. Then of course there are games on on both my phone and ipod so im rarely focused on task at hand. I usually get my homework done, but never in a timely fashion, probably due to all the electronics around me. Ive tried to put the distractions in one room, and myself in another, but i always find an excuse to get up and check to see who texted or tweeted. We are such an easily distracted generation in comparison to our parents. Half the time i cant even get through class without pulling out my ipod and checking my twitter and playing a quick level in angry birds or a couple words in words with friends. Its a horrible habit, but except for an intervention, im not sure how to change it.

this for sure applies to me. I procrastinate with almost everything I do...for example right now. I think every distraction is a challenge we need to overcome.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
