The Terminator Terminates His Marriage and Possibly Career???

        There has always been scandal in the news and tabloids about people and celebrities having affairs, and even sometimes ending up having a baby with someone other than their wife or husband. But when this type of behavior is happening in our own government, it still ends up shocking the country. Especially when this specific government official has been preeching the importance of family his entire term.

      These past couple weeks, we have heard in the news about the Gov. of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his supposed affair with their live-in maid. The two apparently had together a son, whom was born 5 days after him and his own wifes son. This news comes especially shocking, because of the platform he had been running on for his entire campaign. Arnold had always been a strong supporter of family and morals. And for a story to come out about him like this, that is so against everything he said he believed in, it has to make everyone that ever voted or supported him, wonder or second guess their decisions.

      Maria who comes from the Kennedy family, and whom was very democratic, always supported Arnold in his pursuits in politics despite him being a republican. She gave up her career in broadcasting, to focus on helping him achieve his dreams. She was a major help when it came to him becoming governor of California.

     With such a supportive wife and family, I dont see what else someone could need. For him to go back on everything he said he had ever believed in, should surely make people doubt him as a government official. I believe that if you talk the talk, you should be able to walk the walk.

I think what he did to his wife is so sad. I would be completely devestated if I was Maria, and I honestly don't know what I would do. I don't know what compells people to cheat, but I don't think his relationship will ever be the same. The worst thing is the fact that I can't even imagine how those two boys are going to grow up and how this will affect them. I hope Maria doesn't carry and resentment towards Arnold's lover's son because it is her son's half brother and I'm sure they will have to associate with eachother, being brothers and all.

I think mixing the private lives of our politician is risky. Not saying that what he did was not wrong, but that everyone makes mistakes whether they be big or small. As for Maria taking him back, I would say no. Something like that is extremely hard to forget or forgive.

I feel that infidelity is so common among celebrities and political representatives that it is almost expected. Of course the aftermath is never easy to take especially among the spouse who has to go through the embarrassment of dealing with a cheater. There are different aspects of a person. Do I believe Arnold could govern knowing he had cheated? Well he did without his secret being out.  He is obviously frowned upon but he was still able to govern. Should she take him back? I would have to say no.

I think that he deserves it, anyone who cheats on their spouse should be ousted. I kind of feel bad for the maid, since he did not even tell her that he was going to announce it, but hey she deserves it too.

 

The best part about this was how she named both of her children after his characters.

arnold is so dumb for doing this. his wife couldnt have been a better wife to him, and for him to be doing something like that is awful. now it makes it seem that alot of the thing he said about family and morals or whatever could be a lie now that this has come about.

it's really unfortunate that a man of high power as a governer acted in such a way. even worse that he had kept this a secret for this long. he probably dissapointed a lot of people from his party and I dont even know how awfukl his wife must feel..

When I realized this happened, I didn't really think it was a big deal but I had no idea of how he was as a person. I mean of course its an awful thing to cheat on his wife, but I didn't realize that he preached about how important family values are. I guess that makes the situation even worse. Hopefully it doesn't affect his career.

I don't think it should matter what he decides to do in his private lives. There is a key word there... Private. It is no ones business but their own and its not like its really going to affect how he does as governor. Even though its not right that he cheated on his wife with his cleaning lady, no one else should be worrying about it.

Ash, I totally agree with you when you said it should surely make people doubt him as a government official. When we hear about celebrities having affairs, it's just stupid gossip that we pretend to care about that is just something to talk about with friends, but once a government official walks down that road, it's a totally different story. I definitely lose trust in that person. If they can't be trusted by their own significant other, why should the citizens of california trust him to make decisions in their state? I wouldn't want anything to do with him if I were Maria.

I believe Arnold is no longer governor of California.  He went into office extremely popular, however at the end of his term he had raised the state's debt to the dissatisfaction of his voters.  It's true Americans relish the opportunity to rip on a celebrity, but I'm certain the governator will continue to live a comfortable life, even with the damage to his career.  In all likely-hood Arnold will take a tour of celebrity talk shows to bolster his public status and then make several million filming crappy movies.
