As much as I hate, and love, to say it... We are about 3/4 of the way done with high school. That's a scary thought. It seems like yesterday that I was learning to ride a bike and couldn't throw a ball over 10 yards. Now, I'm driving and have to start looking towards college. And that's the problem. College.

All I've heard from my family and some friends over the last few months is, "Hey Ben, what colleges are you looking at?" And every time I've been asked that question, I have had to respond the same way. "Uh, I'm not really sure yet." Then its,  "Oh, okay, well what do you want to do?" Same answer. Its almost like I don't want to face the fact that I'm so much closer to becoming an adult and having real responsibilities. Its not like I haven't been trying to decide which college appeals to me or what job I want to do for the rest of my life. Its just a very hard decision, that I really don't want to have to make.

Its funny to look around and see the people I've grown up with, and know that we are the future. It's scary to think that some of us will be making the laws and doing all the jobs that I've always seen as being for grown ups. Those grown ups will be us in less than ten years. It's crazy to think that almost exactly five years from today, I should (hopefully) be a college grad, looking for a job and mostly on my own. Sure, we're only 16 and 17 right now, but time flies.

I honestly am jealous of those that have known what they want to do their entire lives. Those that have had their college picked out since they were little. Those that have a plan for the rest of their lives, and a firm grip on what they expect to happen to them. How about you? Are you like me and have no idea? Or have you had your life planned out since long ago?

Like they say, "Life moves fast, don't miss a thing."

I just never thought it would move this fast.

Yeah, I agree. It is definitely a scary thing to think about. I think I am more scared for after college, when I actually have to start life, get a job, and provide for myself. Also, deciding what I want to do. Some days I feel really confident in what I want to be, and other days I don't. It a really scary thing. Because one decision could effect your whole life's plan. Gives me a headache. I'm just glad we still have one more year to figure it out. Thank god.

I feel like this year I've developed a firmer grip on what I want to do.  It seems like the majority of the struggle is deciding what to do, but after you reach that decision the path becomes quite prevalent.  Try to find what you enjoy now, then see if that can't be worked into a career or college path.

i believe that i ahve a pretty solid plan of what i want to do with my life, but im not completely sure on hown smoothly that it will go and that is such a scarey thought! being on my own is terrifying to think but i am also really excited to get out of her so im on the fence with my mixed feelings.

I have have little idea what I want to do in college, that's what makes it difficult for me to find where I want to go. I don't know which college is the best path for me for whatever I want to pursue later in life. But it's time to make decisions. Junior years just a tad early.

I don't really understand how people can know exactly what they want to study at what college from such a young age, but people obviously do so I applaud that. I know what school I want to go to and an idea as to the area of study I want to focus on, but I don't have a clue what I want to major and minor in and all that. However, as of this year, I have figured out my post-grad plans, but other than that, I think I'm just going to play it by ear.

I have a similar feeling about how we're going to be adults in 5 years and having to get real jobs. it is kinda scary that we are going to be grown ups living on our own and five years is not a long time at all. I have a plan to play baseball and I'll hopefully be playing in college if all goes right. In college, I want to study to be a p.e. teacher so i can coach a sport and teach gym in high school.

I think I have a plan but I just need to find a good way to make it happen. Most plans have a pit fall anyways.

I have a pretty solid plan of what I want to do for the rest of my life. Of I had no idea, such as yourself, I would imagine it would be very stressful. My parents stared the college process very early so I could enjoy my senior year and have a solid plan. The only problem with starting early is that if you you dont get into the college of your dreams, your screwed.

I am like you and I have no idea what I want to do or where I want to go.  My family asks me the same questions and my parents are really starting to push me to make decisions now.  My older sister grew up knowing exactly what she wanted to do and she has never thought about changing her mind.  She is in college now and knows exactly what classes to take and what path to be on.  I change my mind every five minutes and I have no idea what I want to do.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
