Commercials.. You love them or you hate them.

                           Commercials. Sometimes they show you something that is totally freaking awesome or they are just a waste of time off of your favorite TV show. Personally I have seen some funny commercials and some really bad ones. It made me think about the purpose of them and the reality behind them. Commercials are generally aimed at the emotions that the public (you) have. They mainly appeal to the public through emotions such as happiness, intelect, humor, and every man's favorite sex appeal. Now for me as the average viewer I watch commercials and if they are funny I enjoy them if they are not I tend to not think twice about them. However commercials were designed to keep the product that was advertised into the minds of the viewer. However, how legit is the product? Is it really the number one item out there of its kind? or is it just a gimmick? I think you all have heard about Shamwow. The guy on the commercial demonstrates it and gives the viewer special offers and next thing you now it you have the fake one in your hands. That's what happened when i got Shamwow for my grandma. While we sit there and enjoy certain commercials we don't usually think it is a gimmick otherwise why would they advertise something that doesnt work?

It is because we are very easy to decieve and that is what commercials do. Now I know that everyone is different and I could be all wrong. In some cases I am. Commercials, as I said earlier are designed to make the viewer feel something. For example, the google chrome commercial with the "It Gets Better" movement. That commercial was designed to make the viewer feel inspired to make us think that we could do something as great as that on google chrome. The Super Bowl. The best commercials usually show during the super bowl because of the number of viewers it gets. To appeal to a wide variety of viewers lke that would be very difficult. Which is why most companies resort to the best sense. Humor. Commercials that make people laugh are usually the ones that most people talk about after. It gets people talking which means free advertising. Propaganda works the same way throughout history and it has proven itself useful time after time. I'm not gonna lie...I sometimes love watching the commercials...but only the funny ones. I think a lot of commericals are a little ridiculous and they take you out of the T.V-watching trance. A lot of people zone out of everything and everyone around them when they are watching TV but when commercials come on, it gives them time to readjust and realize the situation around themselves.

I don't like commercials when i'm trying to watch tv but sometimes i'll get sit down and watch and infomercial and be so entertained by it although i have no idea why.

I really don't like commercials. I can deal with commercials the first few times I see them, but when commercials are overplayed it makes me want to stop watching. Recording television has made it so much less annoying to watch TV!

The only time i watch commercials is late at night, when there is absoloutley nothing else on, but infomercials for absoloutley rediculous things, now those commercials are funny. But yeah, I mean I guess sometimes you can stumble across the ocassional funny one, but normally they just take up t.v. time. But i guess their good for getting up and stretching or going to go get a snack, thats a plus!!!

i hate commercials soooo much! i love when i record shows and i have the option to fast forward through them!. yes there are some funny commercials, but most are boring and annoying.

i hate commercials so much. i never watch any of them because they annoy me.  i understand they are trying to sell a product or service and some can be funny, but they need to go away. dvr was the best creation ever because now i can just skip them all, thank goodness.

The invention of the DVR was awesome because you can fast forward through all the commercials. I think some are funny but I hate having to watch the same one over and over. The only time I enjoy watching commercials is during the Super Bowl

commercials often annoy me, which is why i record shows so i can skip through commercials. But i want to go into advertising and have a major in advertising with a minor in Spanish and communications, so sometimes i watch them to see what works and what doesnt work.

Commercials always annoy me. I usually just try to find something else to watch while there are commercials.

I only like commercials when they're funny!!!!!!! Carly, you're right--- The Super Bowl has all the good commercials. :) Other than that, I change the channel. :)
