On Saturday May 21, 2011, a volcano in Iceland erupted. It is not a common experience for a volcano to blow its top. This was the first eruption in that particular volcano since 2004, yet this most recent eruption was its largest in 100 years. The name of the volcano is Grimsvotn near the city of Reykjavik. Luckily, a glacier was covering the volcano, and it was not close to any towns. No one was hurt due to the eruption. Most say that the eruption only causes ice to be melted, and nothing more.
Instead of the Rapture on Saturday, we got an eruption. The creator of the Rapture said that there would be a large earth quake to accompany the Rapture, this did not happen. Some argue that instead of an earth quake, there was an eruption. Is this in some was proof that the end of the world is coming? Is this proof that the Rapture actually did happen, in a way? Should this eruption get more media attention, or should it go unnoticed and we can go back to worrying over who Justin Bieber's next girlfriend will be? I think it should get more attention, this is science people! It is WAY more important then celebrity gossip.
