As many of you walk around Fremd, you probably notice that most people don't even wear their IDs. I wanted to know if these IDs help the security of Fremd. I wanted to know if there was a real reason to wear these IDs. So in order to do this, I decided I would test the security policy. When I thought of ways to test it the best way that came to mind was to wear an old ID card instead of the one from Fremd.

So one day I would walk into school with my old Park District ID card. I thought that they would for sure catch me and tell me to get my actual ID on. As I walked in, however, nobody noticed. It seems quite odd how they didn't care to say anything to me. For the rest of the week I didn't wear an ID and once again no one cared.

It seems strange that the school will implement these rules but not enforce them.  Do you think that the school's ID policy is a waste of time and should be revoked or should it continue. Does it make you feel safe?

Although I hate the IDs, I understand why we have them. However, it makes me so angry that they are SO strict about wearing them, but we can clearly see that they don't really check. How hard would it be for someone to put a card on a lanyard? It's not. As of right now, I see absolutely no reason to be required to wear IDs.

I think it's fine that they want you to show your ID as you walk into school, but throughout the day, you really shouldn't be forced to have it around your neck. I think they should enforce making sure they see everyone has their school ID and then let them be as the day moves on; that way, how else would you get into school unless you had your ID with you?

I dont mind the ID's but I think that they're not necessary. It would be nice if we could just have a school ID but keep it in our bags and not have to wear it round all day while hall monitors stand there looking for someone to yell that about there ID.

I think the ID policy is a scam, i hardly ever wear my ID anywhere and it dosent really create any protection. The ID policy does nothing but take money from our pockets and create some stupid thing we must wear around our neck. Now that i am done ranting the one thing it does do is create an easy access point to our records for lunch and off campus.

Mr.McCusker told me that ID's are also a psychological thing. Since our school has 750+ in a grade people tend to feel lost in the abyss of students. ID's make people feel included and they create an automatic conversation starter. I personally dont mind wearing my ID, it gives me something to mess with in class.

i understand the reason behind id's, but putting it in my pocket or a wallet wouldnt be any different from throwing it in my tote the second i walk past the monitors in the morning. They rarely notice if you arent wearing it. i wore my work id for a couple days when i left my id in a friend's car and they didnt say anything (my work id picture faded so its a white card that says "lifeguard" and then has some writing on the back and a barcode. it looks nothing like a fremd id). The id's dont make anyone feel safer, theyre just a hassle and we dont care about them. I say we go back the the way things were four years ago when your id was just a card you carried around if you wanted to go off campus or buy lunch. this whole, "wear it around your neck" thing makes me feel like a tourist and it often just gets tangled in my hair or in the straps of my bag.

I think the ID's are just there to give the Tank something to yell at kids for. I've walked into school with just the lanyard on many times and never been caught. It's a pointless system and really just a way for the school to make money. Honestly, if you guys are going to make me wear it, why are you going to charge me for a temporary? Ridiculous.

I don't really think that the IDs make me feel more safe at Fremd, anyone can find an old id and walk into the school.  I feel like they only enforce the rules about the IDs sometimes, depending on the person.  I agree with darby, in a dangerous event I dont really think thay would come in handy that much.

I feel pretty safe. But not because I have this ID around my neck. Like you've tested, teachers are only looking for a string around your neck and something that looks like an ID at the end. I don't think these would come too much in handy if someone dangerous came into the school....

I will say however that without the ID lanyard, I'd have a hell of a time holding up the lunch line, looking through my Mary-Poppins-Purse for the ID. haha

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
