The Masters is one of the four major championships in golf. To me, it is the most exciting championship and by far the most tradition-filled. The tournament has a number of lasting traditions including a green jacket which has been awarded to the winner since 1949. Every year, the winner of the previous year's Masters puts the jacket on the current winner at the end of the tournament. The jacket must be returned to the clubhouse after a year. Being the only major tournament to be played at the same course every year, Augusta National Golf Club hosts the tournament which is located in Augusta, Georgia. The field of players is smaller than those of the other major championships because it is an invitational event, entry being controlled by the club itself.
As the prize purse is quite large for the winners every year, I believe that winning has more important attributes than money. As with the other majors, winning the Masters gives a golfer several privileges, which make his career more secure. The Masters champion is automatically invited to play in the other three majors (the U.S. Open , the Open Championship , and the PGA Championship ) for the next five years, and earn a lifetime invitation to the Masters. So, as you can see, this tournament is very historic and everyone who has attended has said that it is an unforgettable experience! So what is your relation to this event? Do you know anyone that has been?
