Hey. I'm Bianca and I'm a lesbian. I know this sounds like one of those Intervention shows with the whole " My name is Kelly and I'm a drug addict," but it's not what I'm getting at. I'm pretty open about my sexuality. My mom wasn't very supportive or accepting to the news, which kind of sucks. It makes me feel less willing to be just me.

Society has taught me that being anything but straight is wrong, and for a very long time, I believed it. But then I figured out that being straight wasn't normal, it was just what was usually expected. People are afraid of change and listen to anything the media  says. It's also what they had been taught since they were young.

The time of today is the time for change, I mean we have a Black president!! It's the perfect time for change. People need to change their opionion on Gays and then homosexuals won't be so afraid of coming out to their peers.

Do you think it's fair that people live in fear because of who they are?

People ought not live in fear because of their sexuality, but they do.  I have a lot of hick family in the south rooted in what we call the bible belt.  I'm not proud to say that members of my family have said and done some awful things to homosexual individuals.  We live in a society which claims to be accepting of gay people but then turns around and condones antigay violence.  I think its terrific that you are comfortable with your sexuality, I hope that soon people in less accepting parts of the nation will feel comfortable as well.

It is so cool that you are so open about your sexuality.  Most gay individuals are not as open as you are for fear that they will be made fun of.  I do not think gays should be treated any differently because everyone is the same, no matter what sexuality you are.  It is very unfair that gays live in fear, no one should have to.  I think that the government and society are becoming more accepting to gays, but we still have a long way to go.  I don't understand why its so strange when someones admits that they are gay, and it is not strange when someone admits that they are straight!!

i think it is unfair to live your life in fear becasue of how you are. everyone is there own person and they should be able to do whatever they want without people making fun of them. its unfair for people to judge someone just becasue they are homosexual. Whatever someone believes in there own mind is normal thats wjat normal is, but just because someone elses normal is different then yours its unfair to judge and have them scared to live life

Living in fear of who you are just makes it confusing for yourself and others. If someone has to say something about themselves that might change what people think about them... it may be tough. well of course there are people whio don't care what people think about them, and than there is people who are down to earth and willing to say what they want to say.

We face a lot everyday to follow what our society calls "normal." Well, unless you like to stick out of the crowd. I think just living the way you want to live is the best way to do it. Live by what you think is normal or even by what you think is abnormal. So long as you're happy, other people's opinions shouldn't matter. It's our own life. I think the least we can do is live it the way we want and not by some random person's guidelines. If you want to stand out, then stand out. People are going to talk anyways. Might as well give them something to talk about.

Times are changing for sure. I feel like a lot more people are feeling more comfortable about coming out and letting everyone know that they are gay. Its about time! No one was surprised when people said they were straight..so why should it be a surprise that people are gay? There should be no reason for anyone to have to hide anymore! Now a days, it is more accepted when people come out, but people are still far from being "okay" with it. People need to get over whatever problems they have with their sexuality, and accept others!

It is not fair to judge people without getting to know them first.  And people should never have to live in fear of who they are. Everyone should be able to be comfortable with who they are, without stress, or worrying.  I also think it's amazing how open you are with everyone, it takes a lot of guts to do what you did.

I seriously commend you for your braveness. I know I wouldn't be comfortable enough to say the things you said in this blog. I totally agree with you, though. Society today is very judgmental, especially in highschool's like ours. But, contrary to that, it is becoming more and more common to show your sexuality these days. I think its completely unfair to live in fear because I know you can't control who you are. So, you should embrace it, not fear it.

Personally, i think people need to stop worrying about other people's personal lives.  It's their life and if they are happy loving the same gender, then so be it.  Love is love, bottom line.  If a man and woman can be happy together without being judged then why can't the same gender be together without getting dirty looks?

I think society puts a lot of stress on people to be "normal." But I'm not sure if anyone even knows what normal is. No one should have to live in fear because of who they are. Everyone should be able to be open and not worry about judgment. If it's not hurting anyone then it shouldn't matter to them.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
