For me, technology is an extremely important aspect in my life. In the past 10 years we have gone from using dial-up, 56k narrowband Internet connection, to over 50 Mbps (mega bits per second.) We have gone from having small, 4x5 box-like TVs, to having TVs over 100 inches in length, and being less than an inch thick, while still maintaining the ability to display 3D motion pictures. 10 years ago, we were using floppy disks with computers to back up our data. Today, I don't think any computers even come with a floppy disk slot!

We've obviously come a long way in just the past 10 years with technology, so what do you all predict we will have in the next 10 years? Robot doctors performing surgeries? Televisions that read our mind to predict what show would put us in the best mood? Maybe even a self-cleaning house, assisted with robo-vaccuums that are disguised as furniture, to flow seamlessly with the style of the house!

Okay, maybe the last one was a bit crazy, but the point is that we won't ever know what we will have in 10 years because we can't tell the future, but we CAN predict what we will have, and plan ahead around these predictions. iPods and Flat screen TVs were our last "Big Thing." What do you guys think will be the "Next Big Thing"?

I think that the next big thing will never come. Sure some company will come out with a cool new product and people will call it the next big thing but then another company releases something cooler and another company does the same thing and it never ends. There will be no next big thing. Its like the arms race with The Soviet Union. Electronic companies will just keep building smaller/thinner and keep building more and more.

Amazingly, we already have "computers" working on us medically to make more accurate cuts since us humans are so imperfect and can only do so much. It seems that the consumers biggest concern is making their TV's more colorful, having the screen get skinner, and having it be at a cheap price. We, the consumer, are needy and greedy forcing the industry to come out with something new every other month.

The next big thing I would hope to be something more medical tag teaming with technology. I'm not really concerned with the latest computer screen or TV, I'm honestly more concerned with a bio-mechanical arm or leg to replace one that has been blown away or someone born without one. I'm not too into the "hot new item" game, I'm more concerned about finding a cure for AIDS or cancer. Hopefully we can use these toys of technology and put them to a real test to help.

I really can't say what the next big thing will be. Like you said, we never know. Kind of weird how I'm seeing all these blog posts about technology during my week of refraining from electronic communications (except for Ning) to promotes one's focus on one's self.

If I remember correctly, there was a poem I read in junior high about a house that was fully functional by itself after the radiation of the bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki had wiped all humanity off the face of the Earth. It's almost a depressing poem to read. I just wish I could remember the name of it.

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
