What's going on in the world? No seriously, does anyone know??

Today in class Mr. McCusker was talking about the new threat that North Korea now poses against us. I ,for one, was completely shocked, to now know that something that large and important was going on, it scared me a lot. I didn’t know what scared me more, that fact that it happened or that fact that I didn’t know about it. I got me thinking, do we as teenagers, need to be more aware of what is going on in the world?

After I though about it, personally, I do not think that I have ever sat down and watched the news. I also realized that the only way I ever knew what was going on in the world was through other people like my parents or my teachers. For a long time i thought that it was ok, but lately all these huge thing have been going on in the news and I think that its things we should know as U.S. citizens. As U.S citizens we, not only should, but need to know what is going on in our world today. Especially if it has to do with our safety.

Do you want to see a really funny fail...

Maybe if she watched some more news she would have been able to answer this question....

I makes me mad too when people do not have the facts about what they are trying to talk about. I think that if more people would watch the news and lean about foreign affairs, our country would function better and we would make smarter choices that would help our country move forward and grow.

What do you guys think? Do you watch the news regularly? Do you think more people should watch they news?

Mr Widlowski was my source. He told us that once we were out of that class we will not know what is going on in the world and he is right. I do hear some of the news when I'm in the car on the radio and I do watch some funny talk shows (even though that's mainly for the comedy). We need to be more informed but not even the news people know whats going on all the time.

No I totally agree Liz. I feel like we need to be more aware of what's going on in our world, locally and internationally. What happens when we're not in American Studies everyday? How we will be able to make decisions for ourselves and our families if we don't know the truth?

Haha that video makes me laugh every time. I don't read a lot of newspapers or watch the news, I think that would help me know what's going on in the world.

I'm horrible! I don't ever watch the news. I only know the news through friends and adults. I think the only reason why I know what's happening is through the internet and people. I totally agree that teens should know more about the news especially if it deals with our safety!

i try to watch the news everyday. I want to be informed of what's going on around me. It's a good way to know how the world is working around us. I watch WGN, it talks about global and local news, but even I never heard about the whole North Korea thing. And North Korea scares me!

I for one am not a fan of the news or media because I think it's boring. I do agree, though, that we should know more about whats going on in foreign countries. Msybe in school we should stop learning on the past and focus on now, because studying the past obviosuly isn't helping us solve any problems. Sorry if I offended any history buffs.

I personally don't watch the news because I find it very repetitive with the same stories. I do think that people should be aware of major happenings in the world that directly effect us though. As US citizens I think we should know what our government is doing in the world. We should be aware of what our country is doing in the world and what is going on in our country.

Ill admit im one of those people that has really no idea what going on in the world and i rarely watch the news unless its for the weather. But i think thats its good to be informed about whats happening in the world and I probably should watch it more often.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
