As we all know about the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico where a oil rig owned by BP exploded and then sank leaking thousands of barrels of oil in the the gulf each day. BP has thrown idea after idea at trying to stop the leak from getting the relief valve to work to putting a huge box over the leak (by the way that box is now sitting about a quarter mile away from the leak because it didn't work) to blowing junk into the relief valve. I mean did BP have a plan for this kind of thing. Well, they are supposed to. The only thing and is working is the new plug with a mile long tube attached to it and oil is still leaking around the plug. Oh and the chemicals what they thought was a great idea to pumped dispersing chemicals to the bottom had created a bigger mess because now instead of the oil being at the surface its hanging at about 400ft below it and now got into the ocean current to the Florida Keys.

Now BP is saying that they underestimated the amount of oil spilling into the Gulf. So, I ask, what about the Gulf. The people lives who live there are changed forever. Fishing and shrimping will never be the same. The marshes around Louisiana could be forever destroyed. I used to live on the Gulf in Texas so I have an idea about what these people are now going to be missing. So, what to do? Should we punish BP? Should the Government taken action sooner? Should we just stop drilling in the Gulf all together? We will see in the coming months and years.

The gulf will be screwed for ages. It's a terrible event that BP needs to be punished for. We did not have proper control and regulation. We did not make sure that they actually had the back up plans prepared, we only made sure they existed. Still, the people who say that this disaster is Obamas Katrina are not right. This disaster is not taking lives, it is not natural, it is a completely different even on a different scale with a different measurement system. Not comparable.

I think this is so horrible! i know they say they're trying to fix the problem, but they need to try a little harder! I can't believe how much oil has already spilled!

Hey there is a new plan that is being considered. I'm dead serious when I say this: They're thinking of dropping a nuke into the middle of it all. Obviously it would be "contained" but apparently they got the idea from Russia. Every time Russia had an oil spill they would just drop a nuke in it. Everyone is so desperate they're willing to go to odd lengths to stop this.

Ok so as a lot of you know I lived in Louisiana for 4 years of my life. And most of the food down there comes from the Gulf. I feel so bad for all those familys who all they do is go fishing in the Gulf and thats all they know. I just am praying for them to find a solution. So all of my family in Louisiana can just go back to normal again. The gulf is a major resorce for food too for a lot of places. ALL the animals!! I hate how dumb people are sometimes. I think that they need to start pumping out some of the oil that is on top so they are doing something.

when i heard about this i was in shock, and the fact that they havent really found a solution yet is killing so many animals!

No one actually knows whose fault it is for the explosion. Some people say it was an accident, while others blame it on BP. Instead of trying to figure whose fault it is we should take better action then what is already going on.

I think that the government should punish BP. There is really no one else to blame and so far no one has really stepped up and claimed responsibility for the incident. And now they are putting human lives at risk.

I think that, because of the dramatic affects that have been caused by this oil rig exploding, President Obama will be pushed by Naturalists to have some sort of legeslation pushed banning off shore drilling in the United States.

Here's what is washing up on the beach in Louisiana today: These are mini tar balls coming on shore at steady stream. These little balls are everywhere on beach.

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
