FOOD: What's going on?

Food we all LOVE it. All around the world there are all different kinds of restaurants serving a verity of yummy cuisine. But I am starting to think that in America that we aren’t appreciating how important it is and valuable it is. I see tons and tons of wasted food every day in the cafeteria and some people in the world could use it. I know during the Great Depression they were not wasting anything. Back then they were basically all trying to survive off of a loaf of bread. I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound too appetizing to me. I dont think that they were having pie eating contests during that time.

Us as Americans are blessed with all of these different types of food from different places such as Panda Express, Chipotle, McDonalds, China Wok, Jimmy Johns , and Wendys. All mouth watering places but sorry to burst your bubble most of that food isn’t really healthy. I think that the portions of food and the grease that is in food is getting just really outrageous. I am pretty sure that other countries are making fun of the amount of fattening food that we consume. A lot of restaurants do not just give you one serving of food they give you eight on one plate, you do not need eight pounds of pasta. ( even though it might be delicious ) its not healthy. I think that we as Americans need to start really think about really appreciating food, because there are people out there who do not get 3 full meals a day.

This is just upsetting to me...and nasty.

Did you know that you should have 3 to 5 servings of vegetables everyday? What do you think about Americas eating habits? Do you think that we are eating too much or too greasy? Do you think that we are wasteful when it comes to food? If so, what do you think that we can do to help that?

I think it's ridiculous how much food we eat. I think it's partly restaurants faults that we're used to these big servings because the more they put on our plate, the more they can charge us. These super-sized servings are part of the reason america is so obese. Another problem with us is that we eat 3 big meals a day. Other countries eat 6 or more small meals a day, which is actually a lot healthier. Also, the small sizes keep growing. I remember when what was now a small was a medium. Soon, there won't even be a small. It will just be lagre, x-large, and xx-large sizes. That makes me sad because that will jsut make our country even fatter.

People rushing, going to work, not having time for anything, is a huge factor that upsets our eating habits. We're always on a move so rather than cook a dinner, we jump into our car and drive to work and on the way there we'll stop at a fast food place for a burger or something. and we do this constantly. We all know where that road leads to....

I always feel so bad wasting food when I know there's so many people in the world that don't get an option to waste food. cause they can't afford any at all

Americans have the worst eating habits probably in the world. We aren't the only people to blame for our bad eating habits but mainly it's the fast food restaurants to blame. If there weren't so many greasy fast food places, I think more people would eat healthier food. Really people should just eat healthy food it actually is good!
