Prom, Overrated or Underrated

So I've been thinking lately about how people freak out about prom. In my opinion Prom is very overrated. First off it's a waste of money at least for Juniors. It costs 140 bucks just for tickets. You also have to buy a tux and limo service. The after party costs 50 dollars, so right there you're at least spending 250 to 300 dollars. It does go on for about 1 day though. Many people say it is one of the best nights of your life. Girls also have to pay a lot of money too. They have to buy a dress, get their hair done, and much more. You're spending way too much money on one night.

Give me some feedback, I want to know what you think about prom. Some people may agree with me. Some people might disagree with me. I want to know why. It's only one night, and it does come again the next year for some. If you're a senior it doesn't.

I LOVE prom. I had so much fun last year, despite the cost I think its a great expierence and that everyone should go.

True, it is very expensive. But it should be fun. They should try to lower the price maybe.

I think that with the prices set for all of the things needed for prom, that Juniors should save their mlney and wait till senior year.

Haha! I agree with Erika. If you are a Junior, I think is ridiculous to spend soo much money for just one night! My friend spent like 200 dollars for her dress, and then you need to add the cost of hair, and make up, and manicure and pedicure, even the tickets are really expensive. I understand why seniors spend so much money in prom, but if you are not a senior I don't get why you would.

Prom is so much fun, but if it's not your senior year, you should not pay all of that money. Girls: set a budget for a dress that isn't as much as a new computer. Guys: we can ride in your car, no need for a limo. Hey, grandparents usually have pretty sick luxury cars, ask them politely and they might let you borrow it. Me and my boyfriend went last year in his grandparent's Jag. Jag > limo

I agree. Prom is a big waste of money. I think people are better off having a party at their house or hanging out somewhere.
