Should Finals be Important?

For 2nd semesters, most students at Fremd work hard to get good grades, and maybe ruin it with finals. Finals take time to study for, and lots of students won't remember what was even talked about at the beginning of the semester. But are the important to see what you learned all semester? I think that the finals are necessary, but I think they should be worth less, so if someone does poorly it would affect there grade too much. I think that would be fitting for…

What's the point of summer reading??

Only a few weeks left of school! Every student is ready to get out of here for 3 months. Even during the summer, the school administrators love to give us homework. It's our summer vacation.  Do we seriously have to have more homework?! Now I'm not saying that books are bad and we shouldn't be reading over the summer, but why do we have to be forced to?? We should be able to choose what we do with our time over our summer break.

Of course, we…

Year-Round School: the modern school of today

As the traditional school system, having an 8-week summer, becomes less popular and more cities adopt the year-round school system, one question arises. Which school system is better? The old, 8-week summer system has been the same for ages while the new year-round system is more modern, and we possibly benefit from the change. I absolutely love my summer as much as…

Summer Jobs

It is finally that time of year again when the bell rings and the papers fly. But is the work really all done? Are we really free from all responsibilities? The past four years I’ve worked at my neighborhood pool as a lifeguard and it seem to be what everyone that lives around me does. It has come to my attention that a lot of my friends don’t have jobs. One might think that it’s because it is so hard to find a job these days, but actually the reason is their parents. They think that their…

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
