Thought this was a funny video when we were talking about Bush being the worst President in…

So I was watching The Shining yesterday which is ranked thee number one scariest movie ever made (arguably) and I realized that I should be more disturbed by some things in the movie than I actually was...
Do you think that, as a society, stuff we've been through, created, and participated in, numbed us down into "mindless human beings". Do you think that we should be affected by stuff more than we actually are? What about violence in video games? Do you think that affects the children…

Alright this is a pretty typical blog about a boring subject, but I think that something needs to be said about it here on the Ning (and I NEEED meaningful contributions by midnight). So as most or all of you know we are not aloud to wear any Halloween costumes here at Fremd and personally I think that rule is unfair. I don't agree at all with the administration's decision to ban all Halloween costumes, I think that anyone who wants to wear a costume should have the right to as long as it…

I remember back in the day (7th grade) when the most important thing of my day was going home and sitting on my computer chatting away on AIM. It opened up my mind to social networking. Not only did it let me talk to my friends but i could leave little posts about myself. Then eighth grade hit and so did MySpace. Profile backgrounds, no problem if you knew how to use html but comments, those didn't come around so easy. Now all that stuff is irrelevant. Everything is facebook. Status update…

As we learn about all the past eras in American studies, I start to wonder to myself what our present day life will be remembered by. What will the future generations laugh at, be confused by, or find completely ridiculous? How will the technology and slang be different? Is this an age of science, such as the age of reason, or an age of emotion such as the romantic era? I find it to be a hybrid of both when I see people expressing their emotion through technology like the Internet. Or even…

I was just thinking about the movie The Patriot today. I saw this movie for the first time a couple of months ago. When I was about to watch this movie I remember I didn't think I would like it. Turns out that I really enjoyed it when I saw it. I was thinking about this movie because it was about the American Revolution which we were just talking about from one of our past units. The movie is about a patriot named Benjamin Martin who is played by Mel Gibson, who wants no part in the war against…

I don't know about how your guys nights went if you went to college night, but let me tell you, I really did enjoy it. I appreciate how the distrist gave us this oppertunity to see college representatives and learn more about them. Like my experince was that I wanted to go see what colleges would have my major, Marine Biology. And even though only about two colleges out of the whole college fair carried my major, that still really helped. I know know where I am first going to apply, and the…

I thought I knew most things about George Washington, but I was wrong. When we watched the Washington video in class today I learned a lot of things about Washington that I didn't know. I never knew that he wanted to be a leader so badly. He didn't just want to be a leader, but a British leader which I thought was interesting. He thought the British leaders were the real deal and that's why he wanted to become one. He was rejected every time by the British to become a leader which stinks, but…

The story we are reading in class "Young Goodman Brown," has most of Nathaniel Hawthornes themes in it. It talks about Sin and how some things that happen in the story are sinful acts like giving into the devils temptations. It talks about the Past as well when the devil is talking to Goodman Brown and saying he knew his father and grandfather from past encounters. Another theme in it is Hypocrisy and Deception which would describe the devils temptations and promises to Goodman Brown, his…

The story that we have been reading in class "Young Goodman Brown," has been pretty good. I was a little confused at some points of the story. I wasn't sure who that person that ran into Goodman Brown and the Devil was. It was some lady, but I don't know what her significance is to the story. I also thought she may have been with someone else. I'm wondering if Goodman Brown will be able to resist the Devils temptations. Also wonder what has happened to his wife Faith. I don't know if she died…

Yesterday after school I saw the movie Luther. I really didn't have any idea what this movie was going to be about. When it started I was not sure I would like it. After seeing it though I did enjoy it. It wasn't exactly an action movie or movie that kept you completely interested, but the message was very strong. I felt like I understood it pretty well too. I am Catholic so maybe that is one reason, but I felt like I could relate to Luther. A man standing up for what he believes in and never…

A couple of weeks ago I saw the movie The Informant. I thought it was an interesting movie and humorous at some points. Matt Damon played a good role as Mark Whitacre. At the beginning of the movie I was a little confused. I didn't understand what was going on. At the company where Whitacre worked, which was Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the company used price fixing tactics. Whitacre goes to the FBI with this info and goes undercover to deliver the evidence. Whitacre is bipolar and eventually…

I had an interesting smiley face story today. I was waiting for school to start and I realized I had two smiley's left in my bag. So I surveyed the hallway in search for the most eligible receiver of the smiley. Just then I spotted a young freshman who have a look of fear on his face. So i walked over to him and extended my arm with the smiley in hand and proceeded to hand him the smiley. He looked at the smiley and then looked at me...then back at the smiley, and almost instantly he started…
