Students, Take Out Your Laptops. We're Going To Take Some Notes.

What would school be like if all students had their own laptops, and that's all they had to bring every day? Would it make school better or worse?

I personally think it would be a great idea if everyone had their own laptop. It could help with so many issues, some not even specifically relating to school. We already do so much on the computer for school so why not give everyone their own laptop? We write papers, check grades, e-mail teachers. They even gave every student their own… Continue

Kids These Days....

Ok, so picture yourself back in the 60's where kids ran free...with their parents right at their heels. sounds like fun right?! How about not. Parents were so much more stricter back in the day, but not only that, kids didn't really think for themselves, well at least the "good kids." Sure they could hang with their friends, go on dates, and do all that good stuff teenagers did, but they were limited. Their parents would try, and were usually successful, to keep them away from… Continue

What's Next, Hologram Computers?

For me, technology is an extremely important aspect in my life. In the past 10 years we have gone from using dial-up, 56k narrowband Internet connection, to over 50 Mbps (mega bits per second.) We have gone from having small, 4x5 box-like TVs, to having TVs over 100 inches in length, and being less than an inch thick, while still maintaining the ability to display 3D motion pictures. 10 years ago, we were using floppy disks with computers to… Continue

Our Difference Throughout History

The Salem witch trials accused innocent people as witches. The people accused were known to be different and because of their difference they were targeted. The Salem Witch Trials started as rumors and ended with many innocent deaths. The foundation of the trials were because of the difference between the accusers and accused.

Today high schools and junior highs are in a way very similar to the Salem witch trials. In some cases, teens start rumors against the people… Continue

What are websites like Facebook and Formspring doing to our society?

With the invention of Facebook people are now able to connect with family and old friends. Currently there are more than 500 million active users of this website. But recently the website has become a huge part of almost every teenager's life. Now we are able to see what everyone is doing today, tomorrow, or what they did over the weekend. This can be a good thing, but on the other hand once you are on Facebook you can't hide much from anybody. If something gets posted on Facebook be ready for… Continue

White Picket Fence Anyone?

Ah, the American Dream. The dictionary definition is "n. the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American." Traditionally is the word that caught my eye there. Are all American dreams traditional? I wouldn't say so any more. Many women still view the American dream as growing up, getting married, moving into a beautiful house with a white picket fence and having a few kids while their husband works, but not all women.

What Would the Puritans Say about the Mosque Being Built in Lower Manhattan?

Our country's belief in freedom of religion is traced back all the way to the puritans. Their escape from the Anglican church led them to find sanctuary in this land. Decades later, when our country's constitution was being constructed, religious freedom was one of the core principles. Today we see religious freedom in a whole new light. Nine years ago the World Trade Center was attacked by al-Queda terrorists. Al-Queda is an extremist group of Muslims that are considered a terrorist… Continue

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
