King at 17.

Stop and think for a minute. Do you think you would be mature enough to be the king of your country on your seventeenth birthday? I know for sure I wouldn't be ready for any such royal duties. Having the…

W.M.D.

WMD Weapons of Mass Destruction. Scary words when you hear them. This is not something anyone wants to hear. Weapons of mass destruction by definition means a weapon that can kill large numbers of humans and/or cause great damage to man-made structures. Hopefully none of these weapons will be used against us or anyone else in the world. This was also the reason why we are in the war in Iraq. The U.S. thought that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, so we…

Have we forgotten about the war in Iraq?

How often do you think of the war going on in Iraq? The Iraq war may be the most under-publicized war in American history. According to news archives from NBC news, just 80 minutes of coverage relating to the war in Iraq was shown during all of 2009 on their news program. This statistic may also relate to the high disapproval rating (61%, poll taken by CBS news in mid year 2009) of the war amongst American citizens . Also, according to Newsbusters.com, the last time a White House reporter…

Facebook Procrastination.

For the majority of you, I'm guessing you each have a facebook.Well for me facebook is something I find myself checking a lot. I think i spend the most time on facebook when I have homework that I just don't want to get done. Even if I don't want to be on I somehow always end up on the computer sitting on facebook.Procrastination is never a good thing, and facebook can be the number one cause leading to it.

Why is this such an…

Really?!?! That's your question?

"Uh I like want to like know what like kids today can like do to like travel like you did in London. Like travel is like more expensive like now a days and like uh I was wondering if you like think that it is like still like possible. Like my teacher said if there is a like a will then there is like a way." This is my interpretation of one of the questions a girl asked at the Barry Miles performance the other day. The platinum blond college student stood up in front of the entire… Continue

Technology is Everywhere

Technology is Everywhere

Technology has basically taken over the world in the past twenty years. When my parents were growing up they didn't use any types of electonics. No cellphones, ipods, tv's, computers, etc. I could not imagaine my life without any of those things. I think we all know how big cellphones and ipods are these days. We see it every day in the hallways and classrooms. Hundreds of kids bring their cellphone and…

Politicians... who needs them?

So lately my class and I have been talking about all these politicians and how their getting impeached because of what happens in their personal life. Why does everyone care about their personal life? It's their life to live. How would you feel if your life was getting filmed or questioned all the time? I don't know about you but I would hate it. People watching and commenting on my every move. It is the same thing as if you were to do something really small, everyone would turn it into a huge… Continue

Indie Culture...?

Many of you have probably either seen or heard of the show My Life as Liz on MTV which depicts the "true life" of an "indie girl" who just does whatever she so feels and resists the pressure to conform to the man. And I cannot tell you how many times people have come up to me and said "you remind me of that girl from My Life as Liz" or "hey, Liz!" joking around since I knew what they were…

Turnabout-Under The Stars 2010

This year Turnabout was great! Elory invited me to go with her. Usually the boy is supposed to ask the girl but I was too shy to ask anyone because I was afraid of getting rejected. I wore a full suit which was different from any other dance I've been to. Actually I did debutante this year which demanded a full tuxedo with tails. When I arrived to the Fremd…

Swine Flu? Maybe When Hell Freezes Over.

I was sitting at home sick today and I was trying to think of a blog post. As I ate a bowl of delicious Froot Loops, it came to me. I'm not sick with Swine Flu, but is anybody anymore? It seems to have gone by the way side except for the sparse amount of commercials with prevention methods. Those commercials make it sound like the Ebola Virus or something, but is it really so serious?

Swine Flu is definitely a scary thing, I won't lie,… Continue

Here Comes the Sun!

Finally after a long winter, the sun is shining and forty degrees feels like summer. You can't help but feel happy and carefree when the sun is shining down on you. So does sunlight really affect our moods? "The turnover of serotonin by the brain was lowest in winter, and the rate of production of serotonin by the brain was directly related to the prevailing duration of bright sunlight," says scientist Gavin Lambert. Why do we feel happier when the sun's out? Sunlight contains a lot of vitamin… Continue

"Have you completed your nings yet?!?!?"

I don't know about anybody else out there, but my parents have been getting very annoying this year with bugging me about assignments and due dates, etc. As much as sometimes I appreciate it because I do forget things, I cannot handle my mom all the time grilling me with questions about my schoolwork. Mr Anderson's e-mail newsletters to our parents have been a prime source for her nagging. The weekly updates… Continue

How Strict is too Strict?

Many of us wonder why our parents are too strict and control our lives. Supposedly, it is to keep us from making brash decisions and maybe just caring. They're always strict because they don't know what's going on in our life like in school and that means that they love you and that they won't let anything bad happen to you. I'ts hard to blame them, though, when you hear about some of the nutty things that happen today. If you give your parents the benefit of the doubt, and…

Paper-Free Schools?

Would you like the idea of only using your computer for homework and no worksheets? Well, it might not be long before this happens. This week we talked about the Progressive Movement and its goals. One of its goals is to foster efficiency or inventing new concepts to make society more efficient. I think that the Progressive Movement is very alive today. Many schools across the nation are taking action and making their schools paper-free. What is paper-…

Who does this guy think he is?

Last week during school we talked about progressivism. The new age of thinking where people believed that the government should do a little more to help out the common man. From this new age of thinking we received many great organizations such as the YMCA and we even received great public services such as libraries. All the things we received from the progressivism movement I believe have helped make America what it is today.

However one man believes that this movement…

Is Kai-lan the new Dora?

For years, if you wanted to learn a second language in school Spanish, French, or German have been the way to go. But now, as China's economy becomes more and more succesful, Mandarin Chinese has become more popular in schools. In colleges, enrollment in Chinese classes has incresed by 51% since 2002. Throughout the nation, there are Chinese programs in over 550 schools, ranging from elementary school to high school, and they have experienced a 100% increase in the past two… Continue

"W"

Our last president, George W. Bush, is the only president that I remember. Ever since I can remember, which is the same time he got elected, he has drawn attention not only from me but the press. He was very popular with the talk shows and the comedy shows. For example, "Late Night Show" host David Letterman had a segment in his show called "Great moments in Presidental History" where he showed clips of some previous speeches. The best part…

Saint Patrick's Day ♣

Every year on March 17th everybody celebrates being Irish, whether you are or not. My mom's side came from Ireland so every year all of the relatives meet up for corn beef and cabbage, yum... I really didn't know that much information about this holiday so I decided to research this green holiday, so here is what I found out.

Saint Patrick's Day is a day in honor of Saint… Continue

What Is An American?: "Perfect" Family Life Image

When I think of an American family, I think of the simple and happy family that was usually portrayed in early commercials: businessman father, stay at home mother, a good son and daughter. I'm not sure why. It seems like that was the ideal portrait of an American family, even though it wasn't true at all, since America is a collection of people from all over the…

Denied!

Students already planned their schedules and signed up for classes for next year. There is only one problem. Many students who filled out

a form to exempt out of P.E. have gotten denied. This is causing many problems

to juniors at the moment. Juniors who have been denied have to go see their counselor

and change their schedule and drop classes in order to fit P.E into it.

Like every year at Fremd, it changes, and…

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
