A slight connection to American Studies / WW2...

So I meant to blog this a while back, but I figured since I had the ning tabbed open now, why not do it now. To make a long story short, this song...  ... came on my ipod as it was on shuffle one morning. I've listened to Say Anything for a long time now, and this song is a favorite of mine by them, but until we went over WW2 in class, I never realized what this song was about, but if you read the lyrics, they are an obvious reference to WW2.. *Note: the singer of this band just happens to be…See More

"i just think that this kind of "music" is not considered music becuase it could take me probably a day to figure out how to use these softwares. Actual musicains need to have talent."

"Although it does take some talent to make these types of songs, one can learn the skill relatively quickly. This music is not something you learn while you grow up, it is a "now" kind of thing. I hate this music to be honest. It will take…"

"I think music as an artform has severely been downgraded recently and is primarily referred to as entertainment. If a DJ puts enough dedication and emotion into what he or she does, I definitely consider it music. A true musician is one who creates…"

Michael McWilliams commented on Ryan Woodman's blog post Is it music if you don't use a guitar?
"It is music as long as it has rhythm, and tone/pitch. Most electronic music, techno, trance, house, progressive, dubstep, 8 bit, chiptune has this at some point of the track so it is music."

"Personally i like all types of music(except for country) and i think actually writing music and envisioning it in your head takes alot of skill and talent so, i agree that DJing is hard."

"I am open to all kinds of music and I would say that I listen to a huge amount of types. I like rap and it is mostly electronic except from the voice and I would say that voices are definitely an intrument and i think that people need to not judge."

Nick Fallico commented on Ryan Woodman's blog post Is it music if you don't use a guitar?

Is it music if you don't use a guitar?

You know what really grinds my gears? When people say that electronic music, techno, trance, house, progressive, dubstep, 8 bit, chiptune, any genre like that isn’t music because it doesn’t “have instruments”. I have a question for the people who say this: do you know how hard these people work to create this music? It isn’t just pushing a few computer buttons. Great, respectable electronic artists like Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Skrillex, Bassnectar, Markus Schulz, Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Chris Lake,…See More

Television Advertising and Digital Media Advertising: Evolving into One?

The attention span of most people is not very long to begin with, but in this day and age where everything is instant and on demand, our attention spans are shortening even more. And with it, our ability to sit through and watch commercials on television is lessening too. Commercials are now going for an average maximum time of 30 seconds each, most trying to stay…

Holiday Commercialization: Do People Realize It?

Over the years, holidays have gone from time spent with family around the warm fire, to what item you expect to be in your hands by the end of the night. It's quite sad that this happened, but let's look together at some of the factors that might have caused this.

One major factor is Black Friday. Usually the day after Thanksgiving is considered the start of the "holiday shopping season," and that first day of shopping is when stores… Continue

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
