Evelyn Holy commented on Rachel Baum's blog post Do we really know what we're doing?
"I think it's very common for people to blow a mental illness out of proportion. My parents, I know, wouldn't even believe me if I said I suspected myself or my brother to be suffering from one. I think parents just don't want to admit…"

Rachel Baum commented on Mike hoffman's blog post Driving license: move it to 18?
"I actually think making the driving age 18 is a terrible idea. When you're 18, you are getting ready to go off to college, so what's the point of learning to drive? You're most likely not gonna have a car on campus until your at least…"

Rachel Baum commented on Matt Sievert's blog post Will racism ever go away?

Do we really know what we're doing?

The unit we just finished in psychology had to do with mental illnesses and how it affects the people around them and how we treat them. When I say mentally ill, I'm not talking about autistism and such. Mental illnesses range from things like depression, OCD, anxiety disorder, to multiple personality, bi-polar and so on. In the past, we would just lock them up in a mental hospital to be left for dead. Not such a good idea, right? Well fortunatly for these patients, things have changed. Now a…

Stereotypes?

Everywhere you go, there seems to always be stereotypes. Dumb blondes, smart Asians, immigrants can't speak English, the hateful mother-in-law, loud obnoxious and fat Americans, etc. There's even stereotypes that only apply to our area, like everyone in Inverness is filthy rich. Why do people stereotype? Just because some people with a certain hair color or ethnicity act one way doesn't mean they all do. Stereotypes aren't all bad though, such as smart Asains, romantic French,…

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
