"I hate online assignments. I feel like it's so much easier to forget things when they're online. In my chemistry class, all graded assignments are through a website called Lon-Capa. I hate it so much. I find myself remembering last minute…"

Patrick Witt commented on Ryan Woodman's blog post Is it music if you don't use a guitar?
"I think music as an artform has severely been downgraded recently and is primarily referred to as entertainment. If a DJ puts enough dedication and emotion into what he or she does, I definitely consider it music. A true musician is one who creates…"

Online Assignments Vs. Physical Assignments

As our final quarter approaches the end and junior year is finishing up, we are assigned our last Ning blog and all the contributions that come with it. There's really not much asked for us in American Studies. Our Ning assignments are our primary assignments for a majority of the year.

I've personally not been a huge fan of this whole Ning idea from the beginning. I've simply had a few more problems than with written assignments and whatnot. But I suppose it could be worse.…

How Inhumane can Humans Get?

Recently, there was a culture project opportunity to see the movie "Food, Inc." which depicted how cruelly animals were treated so that people could stuff themselves with their remains. Now, I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't think some of the acts that I've seen performed to these animals are right. I've seen segments where chicken beaks are pulled off while the animal is still alive, and I've seen them be thrown against walls for no reason at all. Like I said, I'm not a vegetarian, but I…

Frivolous Litigation: the Hottest New Legal Trend?

A former Houston ambulance driver stops for doughnuts while delivering a youth to the hospital; the youth's mother complains and the driver sues the city for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

A Staten Island girl falls into an open manhole while texting; girl's family intends to sue city.

These may sound silly to you and me, but what's the worst part about them? They're completely true. Apparently common sense didn't kick in for the (thankfully)…

Peace through Solitude

Recently, I have been going through some tough events, and I felt I was distant from what I really wanted to focus on. That, for me, was music. I felt like it had been ages since I last played. The worst part was that I had a lot of musical performances and auditions coming up. Normally, I try to get through tough situations and just forget about them after the fact. This time, however, said solution would not work, so I tried a different method.

We as Americans are so inclined in… Continue

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
