"Your mind is so much more open to new languages at an earlier age. It would make so much sense to add foreign language in to elementary schools. My sister took an optional class when she was in 5th grade, but it was an hour long once a week so she…"

Foreign Language: High School or Elementary School?

I'm sure we've all heard how in other countries, language classes start in elementary school. As I got to know my foreign exchange student, I found out that she has been studying english for 9 years. So my question is, why do we not start learning foreign languages in school until 7th grade?

According to Diane Bales at http://www.fcs.uga.edu/pubs/current/FACS01-6.html, learning a language is easier before the…

Spring Break Danger

We've all seen the news, we've all heard the stories, but does it really affect us? Each year, we look forward to spring break, counting down the days to when we get to leave behind the "burbs" and go to some warm location. I'm not saying I'm any different, but I can say I worry about the things that happen on spring break.

We all are familiar with situations like the Natalee Holloway case. A high school senior went on a trip to Aruba, and disappeared. Am I the only one this…

"16 & pregnant": helping or hurting?

On June 11th, 2010 the hit series "16 & pregnant" aired on MTV. From this date on, the view of teenage pregnancy has been glorified greatly. While I personally have nothing against the girls on the show, I feel that this series shows rare situations. The majority of the couples in this show are strongly supported, financially and emotionally, by their parents. In real situations, are a 16-year-old's parents really going to be over the moon that she is having a baby? I would assume not.…

Procrastination At Its Best

All students come across points in their lives where procrastination seems like a good idea. Throughout the years, it just gets worse. We go into elementary school bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to do whatever. But, as the years progress, we get lazier and lazier. It seems like a good plan to push it off until the day before. Especially when it comes to studying, students think that if they do it ahead of time, they'll forget everything. Don't get me wrong, I do this all the time… Continue

"There are many options out there, but to standardize is to tell a lot of teachers to learn something new or unfamiliar... it's a tricky subject.  That's why I'd love to start my own school, powered by Edmodo, Ning, etc :)"

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
