Family Dinners

At my house my family sits down every day at 6:00 to eat dinner. A few decades ago, this was considered standard procedure. Now it seems that this is far less common. I didn't really think it mattered all that much in the scheme of things, but I was reading this article the other day, and I was suprised at the statistics it showed. Did you know that the more often a family eats together, the less likely it is…See More

The "Epic" Power of Vocabulary

When I sat down at dinner yesterday with my family, as i usually do, my younger brother was talking about his day. However, to the annoyance of my family, the only adjective he seemed to be using was the word "epic." His friend's shirt was epic, his videogame was epic, his math homework made him feel like an "epic fail." I have had enough of this word epic, and so I decided to look it up in my mom's handy-dandy dictionary. Epic, by the dictionary's standards, is either an event extending…

the era of now

As we learn about all the past eras in American studies, I start to wonder to myself what our present day life will be remembered by. Is this an age of science, such as the age of reason, or an age of emotion such as the romantic era? I find it to be a hybrid of both when I see people expressing their emotion through technology like the Internet. Or even… Continue

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
