"I think there's really no point in tornado drills where we live.  When was the last time you heard a tornado killed anyone in Palatine, IL?  I think the real threat we should be worried about here is a tsunami."

Alex Costigan commented on Michael Weber's blog post Should Finals be Important?
"I don't see why students should be retested on units months after they learned about the topic and took tests and quizzes on it.  Finals really are just a source of unnecessary stress as you try to relearn a subject for a giant test that…"

Heard Any Good Music Lately?

There's groups for movies, books, and plays, but not music! So here's one. Feel free to write anything about music on here; new bands/artists you like, your favorite bands/artists, concerts you've gone to, or song recommendations! =]

Alex Costigan commented on Patrick Witt's blog post How Inhumane can Humans Get?

Alex Costigan commented on Megan Teschner's blog post What's the point of summer reading??

The Asians Are Coming! The Asians Are Coming!

In today's world, it seems like nearly everything is manufactured, designed, or developed in either China or Japan.    The twenty-first century seems to have become smothered with a new, high-tech, Asian influence.  Almost any electronic device we own was, at some point, either created or made in an Asian country.  China is expanding more and more each day in the field of technology, and it is estimated that they will surpass our nation of easily-satisfied Americans in the next…

Legalize It

After nearly 75 years of marijuana prohibition, it has never before made more sense to legalize this ancient, harmless herb.  Congress needs to review the law and see the plant for what it is: a plant.  There are so many nation-wide advantages from legalizing it, that it seems stupid for the greatest country on Earth to make it a highly-illegal substance.  It's seemingly limitless uses continue to be discovered, and we learn more about it each day.  Something that can be used for everything…

"Emos": Today's Individualists?

In this modern day and age, you can find the term "emo" commonly being used at any high school across the nation. But where, when, and why did this popular trend begin? Is it resistance to society's generic conformity that makes people change to this extreme, or just desire to join in on this independent clique? I'm not trying to make fun of anyone; I'm just stating my opinions about this newer group of people.

In my mind, emos are simply today's goths, with less make-up and more… Continue

9/11 Skylines and Turnstiles

I'm not usually someone who writes a lot , not publicly anyway but I do love to express my self through art, usually visual art but most of the time the art I make is influenced by something . In this case it's a song a written by one of my favorite musicians as a response to the feeling of horror and disbelief as he watched the Twin Towers in New York go from icons to ruins on 9/11/01. The song is sad,…See More
