Today I was watching the show "Planet Earth" and they used the word biota to talk about underwater life.  These logy/bio words are more commonly used in the real world than I thought because I'm seeing them everywhere now.

I was reading an article online on AOL news and I saw the word "Poligamy" used and it reminded me of one of our greek roots.

Here are a couple of vocabulary gems from Julia Child's My Life in France. Julia Child was an excellent chef and a marvelous writer.

Some of his problems, such as his sensitive stomach, were the result of amoebic dysentery from the war; others were the result of his jumpy nerves.

By the end of the day, our loaves were turning out just right, and I was feeling euphoric.

From The Women by T. C. Boyle, a terrific book about Frank Lloyd Wright:

She read through it all, column after column, weighing each word with a mixture of euphoria and heartache, and then she read it through a second time.

Dysentery was common enough in the Far East, where primitive sanitary practices encouraged its spread, and the Japanese Isles were no exception.

She breathed in the scent of the pines, saw the way they stood ranged along the river like sentinels, rugged and alive and giving up their color to a monochromatic world, and felt a surge of joy.

I love learing about new words. Having a good vocabulary can help you in so many ways: talking, writing, etc. I like that we do greek vocabulary in class.

On the "Extra" Gum case...it says..." 15 sticks of unadulterated, mind numbing, EUPHORIA-inducing, earthshattering, long-lasting. and humble enjoyment." How crazy is that!?

I was watching grey's anatomy the other day and came across two words one old and one new, the old one of course was anatomy, but the new one was in the show they were talking about the hierarchy of the hospital and how everyone needed to listen to the people above them or else it wouldn't work

I accidentally used a wrong word in my paper. I meant to write "quirky," but Word changed it to "corky." Mr. Anderson's comment: homonym??
